Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian

On Monday, November 6, 2006 at 2 PM EST, Join experts from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian for a webcast discussion about CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure). These experts will review aspects of the procedure, take questions from participants and discuss opportunities for working with your hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Units to share best practices.

Bubble CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure is a low-tech, labor-intensive therapy performed on newborns with Respiratory Distress Syndrome to prevent Chronic Lung Disease. Pressurized oxygen is delivered through prongs in the baby’s nose allowing continuous lung inflation. With Bubble CPAP, babies breathe with istance as opposed to a machine breathing for them. Bubble CPAP is a non-invasive technique unlike alternatives (i.e. surfactant and ventilators, both require intubation.)

The Miracle baby of a Chabad Rabbi

Every parent to be looks forward to the birth of a healthy baby. Sadly, a premature birth can rob many families of this dream. Born so soon and so small many of these babies are born with severe disabilities and some won’t survive their first year of life.
One of those families is Rabbi Eli and Chaya Estrin, shluchim at Washington University in Seattle, whose baby arrived 14 months earlier than the regular date.
But Eli and Chaya didn’t give up. “Think good. We want everyone involved in this case just to focus on the good. If there is a chance for bad we’ll accept that if it comes but right now let’s focus on the good,” says Eli.
For 80 days Eli and Chaya remained in the hopital most of the time next to their baby. 30 days later they performed a Pidyon Haben at hospital and 80 days later the baby was released. Eight days later (88 days after birth) it was circumcised and his name is Yehudah.
Not too long ago Yehudah celebrated his “Upsherenish and a very moving video was shown.
“Pulse” a local TV show aired this amazing story. Click play or here to watch video. -Shturem.net
