Another reason to love baby kimono
Like most Japanese mums, I’ve known the secret as to why Japanese baby kimono are such great items of apparel since I was a child. And many in the western world have turned on to the benefits of a wrap style garment for newborns as a way of avoiding pulling anything over the neck.
However, did you know that it doesn’t end there? Why not go and grab a baby kimono out of your drawer right now and take a look at where the care label is. Is it at the back of the neck? Does that look like the best position for one against baby’s delicate skin? Well, no.
Where do the Japanese put their care labels? I hope you guessed correct - they put it between the layers of fabric across the chest. Not much chance of irritation there. Genius.
That’s just one more reason I love baby kimono from Japan.
