The Basset Hound has been used for several purposes through out the history of American and European popular culture. In February of 1927 Time Magazine placed a Basset Hound on their cover. The actual article had been concerning the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Basset Hounds have also had large roles in films, tv, comic strips, as well as cartoons. The most desired Basset Hound character within popular culture is Droopy. Droopy had been initially developed in 1943 by Tax Avery & Fred Basset. Subsequently, Basset Hounds have appeared in several feature movies and Television shows like Tiny Toons, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Aristocrats.
