Usually at 34 weeks the only real problem is that the baby’s lungs aren’t fully developed. There is a chance you could go into early labor, but there is the same chance you will carry full term or at least until your last one carried. You do tend to have pre term labor if you’ve already had one, but it doesn’t mean it will be earlier than that. It will probably be around the same time.

NO that is not true at all, i think your odds go up, but it doesnt mean that it is going to happen….and a baby at 34 weeks will be able to servive, but will need to be in the nicu for a whiel and might need help with breathing at first, but if you go into early labor, and they know you are going to deliver, they will give you a steroid/hormone shot that will rapidly develop the babies luns, so their will be less chances of concerns at birth(lower the severeity of the babies concerns of breathing) at this point everything is developed and the lungs are the last thing to develop, and 37 weeks isnt considered premature, anything after 37 weeks is considered fll term! good luck and Ive know people that had a really premature baby(22 weeks) the baby was bairly a pound(17 yrs almost 18yrs ago) my cousin, and she is fine, and dont you think technology is better now then 18 yrs ago?? so i woulnd stress over it, and in fact, all stress will do is make your chances of a preterm labor more apt to happen, i wish you luck and hope all is well with you and baby!

My doctor told me 37-40 weeks is full term so you did not have a preterm baby

Well 37 weeks isnt preterm technically. My dr told me i was full term from 37-40 weeks. You should try not to worry because stress is bad for you and the baby. There is also medecine these days drs can give to slow down labor if it is needed. Talk to your dr about your worries so they can reassure you everything will be ok. good luck!

It’s not true. 38 weeks is actually considered full term, so you’re son was not that bad off, for lack of better wording. At 34 weeks, your daughter will have a great chance at survival, but will probably have some medical needs or the first few weeks or so. So just relax- the more you worry, the more likely it will be. You will have a wonderful daughter, I am sure.

I don’t think one pretern will determine your other children, though if it was caused by certain problems on the mother’s part (biological) then it might be that you are at risk in general. I’m no professional, ask your doctor. And I think a 34 week baby would have pretty good chances of survival especially with technology today.

it depends on the reasoning behind the pre term baby….high blood pressure in pregnancy can be a repetitive thing causing early labor….but each pregnancy is different and if the first preterm baby was just something random that caused early labor it may not happen in another pregnancy
