I need sewing tips on sewing neck for preemie gown, is there a trick to it?

I have a hard time trying to turn under the neck so that there is no raw edge. I make burial gowns with matching blankets for the parents. The neck area is so small. Most of the time I sew a facing around the neck and turn that. Any suggestions would help.

Sorry but the facing is the only way unless you want to do it by hand or top stitch with decorative stitches
