Knitting patterns for premature babies?

Can anyone tell me where I can get knitting patterns in 3 ply for premature babies. Or is there an "idiot proof" way of adapting an existing pattern in 4 ply or DK. I am not very good at working out the tension etc. I know how to do the tension swatch, but I’m not very good at comparing one with another of a different tension to work out sizing. Can anyone help please. I have been given some lovely 3 ply yarn. which I would love to knit up.

Here are a few.

As for swapping out yarn–you do a swatch–figuring out how many stitches = how many inches wide and tall. Then you figure out how wide and tall it’s supposed to be in the pattern you have and substitute the number of stitches you’d use using the yarn you have.

I thought prem. babies had to be kept warm so I dont think 3 ply would be warm enough

Haha! Feed the premature baby some food, or shove it back up the mother’s vagina so it can grow a bit more. Then when it’s a bit bigger, spare yourself some energy and go to the store to buy it some clothes. If you’re bored go bandage the baby in your "lovely 3 ply yarn". < What the hell is that???
