How premature would a baby have to be to die?
I’m just wondering, what is the earliest age when a premature baby can survive?
And, if the baby is born premature, is there a chance that the mother will die also?
I think the earliest known surviving baby was 21 weeks, but most born at that time will not make it. I have read that around 24-26 weeks is when babies can usually survive. No, the mother will not die, unless the reason for the premature birth is some horrible infection/disease/accident, etc that hurt the mom as well, if you know what I mean. Most premature births are not for this reason though.
there is always a chance of the mother dieing during child birth, but not due to giving premature child birth.
also, the earliest i’ve heard the baby can survive is 23-25 weeks.

Most people will say a baby is viable after 24 weeks. The youngest surviving preemie was 22 weeks. The odds of survival go up dramatically after 28 weeks.
The mother will not die. There’s no connection.

With medical advances and NICUs babies are surviving a lot earlier then before. A family friend had to have an emergency c-section at 2.5 months early her little girl is 2.5 years old now and healthy. The risk of mother dying will not increase due to preterm labor.

at 24 weeks a baby has a 50/50 chance of surviving but will obviously have a long stay at the hospital
