whats the best way to stop my premature baby from straining even though hes not constipated?

my baby is 12 weeks old, he was 8 weeks premature, two weeks after he was born he started to make a straining noise, i thought he was constipated but he wasnt cause he had regular bowel movements, docs said it was normal and he would grow out of it, but he still does it, he does it at night to so we cant switch off when we go to bed.

As his stomach muscles get stronger he won’t have to strain as much, but for now he is working those muscles and there isn’t much you can do.

Sometimes babies just seem like they are pushing hard to get it out. My first child would push soooo hard, but only get a little squirt out and he was a week late. I also asked the doctor about this and its just what babies do sometimes. You also have to remember your baby is really like a 4 week old so it’s going to seem like longer to grow out of it than a baby born on time.
