Can premature birth cause mental illnesses later in life?

So I was born two months early, I weighed two pounds.

And now I have been diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and early schizophrenia.

I was wondering if maybe my premature birth could have caused this.

Anything could have caused this. Genetics, Your premature birth..

I think it would’ve happened anyways.

I’m just like you. I was born 2 (almost 3) months early, and I weighed 3 pounds. I was about the size of two adult hands put together.

But I wasn’t born with any defects. Everything was perfectly in shape.
