Premature is any baby born before 39 weeks’ gestation. (Usually if they’re born before 26 weeks, they don’t survive.)
Mature is born between 39-41 weeks
Post mature is after 41 weeks.

    1) Premature is up to 37 weeks, term is 37w1d-42w. Postmature is 42w1d(+). Although most women are considered "overdue" if past their due date.
    2) up to 8th week after fertilization(10th week of pregnancy) is an embryo. After that it is called a fetus until birth.

My son was born 3 weeks early and was 5lbs 2oz. He wasn’t premature because he was fully formed and his lungs were developed (They did an amniocentesis to make sure). He hadn’t been in long enough to add all the baby fat they gain during the last few weeks. So he didn’t look mature. The doctor’s and nurses called him a "pretender". =) When I’m asked if he was premature, that’s my answer. My little pretender.
