Are prematurity and trouble conceiving genetic?
Both my husband and I were born prematurely (he was 7 weeks and I was 12 weeks). Our daughter was born 18 weeks premature and sadly passed away. Then both our parents had trouble conceiving. It took us over a year to conceive our daughter and we’ve been TTC again since April.
Are these things just coincidences or genetic? This may be a stupid question for some of you but I really don’t know.
Most prematurity and trouble conceiving is not genetic. It is just chance. However, some is genetic. Not all members of the family will inherit the condition, although they inherit and pass on the damaged gene. You might, at some point, consider getting counseling from a genetic counselor. It might help to determine if you are conceiving just fine, but the pregnancy isn’t advancing vs. no conception at all.

Sadly, there is probably a genetic connection there.
