what cause women to have theire babies premature?

what cause a woman to have a premature baby ive seen so many premature videos on youtube woman be having babies at 20-34 weeks premature babies and almost none make it
im just curios to how babies are born so early is there anything a woman can do to prevent prematurity

Wow … there are a million reasons why babies are premature … and at my hospital babies that are 23 to 34 weeks survive … we see very little deaths in these populations …. obviously the 23 to 26 weeks have a tougher time ….

I think your best bet is to live a healthy lifestyle and make your prenatal visits … this would include taking your vitamins .. eating healthy … sleeping well … no smoking … drugs … alcohol .. no risky sexual behavior ….

all that said … women who do everything right can still have abnormal pregnancy … it is a blessing that we have so many normal deliveries … and you are blessed to be pregnant … and I would suggest that you only think positive thoughts … stress is a negative factor too … so keep your head high and know this is going to be a great pregnancy … and soon you will have the most wonderful vision of your future .. God Bless You .. and take care

Medical disorders for one - Preeclampsia

Second trimester miscarriages are largely due to an incompetent cervix.

Sometimes if the mother was on drugs it can cause a preemie.

well babies at 34 weeks often make it…I dont know where u get that from…but lots of things…like smoking, stress excessively, incompetant cervix, mature age (over 40), multiple abortions (not miscarriages, elective abortions), severe maternal malnutrition

I had a preemie at 30 weeks. Her cord was tied in a knot and she stopped growing. She knew what to do though, she broke my water and decided she was coming out. Despite her lower birthweight (and the fact that I smoked, which has no bearing on the cord), her lungs were developed to 31 weeks gestation and she required no interventions. She was only monitored until she was just under 4 pounds and she came home.
