Following the premature birth of his son Zeek, Corey Taylor spent frightening days watching both his wife and their tiny baby fight for their lives. Betty had developed complications 26 weeks into her pregnancy. In danger of heart failure and coma, she had an emergency c-section. Zeek was born weighing just 1 pound 14 ounces and spent the first 103 days of his life in neonatal intenstive care. He was given surfactant therapy to help his immature lungs inflate and went on to fight (and win) countless medical battles. Today, Zeek is an artistic 8 year old who loves music, cooking, making greeting cards, and performing with a drum line. As the 2007 National Ambassador, Zeek and his family will travel the country to share their story, raising awareness of the seriousness of premature birth.

After Rachael and Justin’s first baby Gracie Anne was stillborn at 23 weeks 6 days gestation- (April 19th 2008) due to Turner’s Syndrome, Cystic Hygroma and Fetal Hydrops, we were all overjoyed on Jan. 6th 2009 to learn they were expecting a healthy boy. Not even a week later at 20 and 1/2 weeks gestation Rachael had some alarming symptoms and was diagnosed with incompetent cervix/pre-term labor (cause unknown). She underwent an emergency cerclage and was on hospital bedrest for a month. Then February 11th she went into labor and it could not be stopped. She had her little boy at 24 weeks 6 days gestation. Cooper was born prematurly at 28Weeks+3days and 1.34kg at Frances Perry House in Melbourne Aust. The NICU Team took over as soon as he was delivered by c-section. Nervous Dad hovered with the camera. This video was the first look i had at my new born. My partner showed it to me whilst i was still being stitched up. It was amazingly wonderful but yet i felt strangely detached seeing our baby boy for he first time… on video.
