Helping premature babies get ahead

URI professor Judith Mercer talks about the benefits of delaying umbilical cord clamping for very low birth weight babies. Delaying for just 30-45 seconds at birth causes less bleeding in babies’ brains, and fewer infections, and the babies nursed better, were warmer, and cried less.
