Jack and Sean, my identical twin sons, born 8 weeks premature. We support the March of Dimes in their efforts to end prematurity and to see EVERY Baby is born healthy. My water broke 7 weeks early on August 23, 2008 he was a32weeks 6days. The doctors didn’t know how sick he was going to be, but thank god his lungs were developed, he only needed to learn how to feed. Babies born before 34 weeks do not know how to suck, swallow, breathe at the same time. He stayed in the Hospital 10 days. They were the longest days of our lives. My husband and I are so grateful that he is doing so well and so thankful he is apart of our lives. We are better from knowing him. To God be the glory!

After Rachael and Justin’s first baby Gracie Anne was stillborn at 23 weeks 6 days gestation- (April 19th 2008) due to Turner’s Syndrome, Cystic Hygroma and Fetal Hydrops, we were all overjoyed on Jan. 6th 2009 to learn they were expecting a healthy boy. Not even a week later at 20 and 1/2 weeks gestation Rachael had some alarming symptoms and was diagnosed with incompetent cervix/pre-term labor (cause unknown). She underwent an emergency cerclage and was on hospital bedrest for a month. Then February 11th she went into labor and it could not be stopped. She had her little boy at 24 weeks 6 days gestation. My daughter passed in less than 24 hours from an unknown heart defect. She lived for 4 months in the NICU. Born 12 weeks early only weighing 13 ounces. She fought a long hard battle before being called home to our Lord. We love you and miss you baby girl! Love, Mommy and Daddy

When I was 18 years old , doctors told me my chances of getting pregnant were slim to none. I am 30 years old right now and you could imagine my excitement when on may 30,2008 I took a pregnancy test and it said positive. I started crying so bad I was soooo happy, IM PREGNANT i pretty much screamed it. Well on September 16th I was 21 weeks 5 days pregnant, I went to my doctors appointment and listened to her heartbeat and they said everything was great. By the time i got home from RI i live in Ma…My pants felt wet and i knew i didnt pee myself so what the was it? Started getting cramps so i decided to go to the ER, where they told my cervix was 4cm dialated and there was nothing they could do but wait, and that my water will probably break. 2 hours after getting to woman and infants, my water broke and i knew my baby was dying. They told me that I had to deliver her. Knowing she was dead. So on September 17,2008 I have birth to a beautiful 14 oz baby girl with brown hair and we named her Brooke Elizabeth Backlund.
